GameSage AI

Mini Case Study (2024)

Project Duration

1 Month

Problem Statement

Gamers struggle to find a go-to tool to use for all their gaming specific queries, across all genres of video games.

Context

This project is a mini-side project that I did.

As an avid gamer myself, I can't tell you how many times I was playing a game and needed to resort to the Internet to find something. Whether it's a question about how clear a level, insight into a very particular game mechanic, or what the best weapon in a game is. I'd spent too much time scrutinizing various websites and forums just to find the answers I need. Furthermore, if it was too specific or uncommon of a question — you may never even find the answer.

For decades, gamers have wanted a consensus tool or website for all their gaming queries. It gets redundant and repetitive to scour the internet aimlessly or waste an incessant number of minutes on a YouTube video that beats around the bush before getting to the point — or alternatively, doesn't even solve your problem in the first place.

ChatGPT, in recent years, has become a viable solution for some. But intrinsically, OpenAI's tool isn't trained specifically on video game data — therefore it's capacity or potential for being a personal gaming guru is limited. It was clear the solution to this foregoing problem is AI.

Solution

Which is why GameSage AI is a concept that caters too all gamers needs. We all know ChatGPT, right? Well, think of GameSage as a LLM tailored specifically for gamers. It holds a repository of terabytes of data of a myriad of video games spanning since inception of games. Real-time information as well, so even the latest games could be supported.

In adherence to Jakob's Law — or the law that proposes "that users spend most of their time on other sites, which means that they prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know" — the product had to be reminiscent of ChatGPT a bit. In other words, very minimalist UI with lots of blank space and lack of visual clutter. The user experience had to be straight to the point and as simple and intuitive as you could imagine.

Which is why I designed GameSage to be just that; you select a game that is supported by the LLM and it begins a new chat designated for that specific game. For clarity and simplicity, you can clear or delete the chat but you can never begin another chat for that specific game if the aforementioned game's chat is still active. Once you're in the chat, you just start chatting away and ask all the dumb or specific questions possible!

Ultimately, this project was started spontaneously and also from a passion perspective of me being a potential target user. AI is the future — whether that be positive or cause for concern — and it's only optimal it serve as the solution to enhance a gamer's experience as a personal gamer guide.
